The American Journalism Project (AJP) recently published the results of a survey in which 5,000 people said what they really want from local news. The top line was that readers crave a fuller picture of trustworthy stories on topics that provide immediate action and agency.
In this week's podcast, we hear from Loretta Chao, VP of strategy and startups at AJP, who talks about implementing some of the lessons from that report in your newsroom. But not all communities are the same and you might want to do your own community listening project.
Maybe you do not need to garner 5,000 responses, but strategies like these are replicable on a range of scales. Tune in for some innovative ideas on how to encourage readers to provide constructive feedback and be part of your editorial strategy.
